Day 21, Sunday, September 4, Windsor, La Junta

We got over to mom's place in time for the 10:30 am service. We were not disappointed.

Dave had suggested last night that we might hang around today and go to a classic car exhibit. Last night we decided we needed to get going right after the service. T wanted to visit Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site outside La Junta and it is about a four hour drive. I checked last night and they either close at 4:00 pm or 4:30 pm. Their web site warned hours on Labor Day were not certain.

Before leaving, we got a couple of pictures. Wow, David is really looking old, isn't he?

Great visit and we promised to make it back sooner.

We headed off to La Junta. We stopped once and arrived at the fort at 3:50 pm. The closing time was 4:00 pm, but they will be open at 9:00 am tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow, we will go to Bent's Fort before heading to Manhattan, KS for our final night before heading home. It is a seven hour drive to Manhattan, so it will be another long day.

Day 20, Saturday, September 3, Windsor

We got up relatively late this morning, having had a long day yesterday. When we got in last night and called mom, she asked not to call her too early in the morning. We ate breakfast and called her around 9:00 am to tell her we were coming over. She said Diane and David were going to join us for lunch in the cafeteria of her senior living resort.

It took about 20 minutes to drive over and we had a very nice reunion. It has been several years since we have been out to see her. She is looking very well. Diane and Dave showed up and we had a good lunch. Afterwards, we adjourned back to mom's apartment and conversed. We decided to meet again for pizza at Diane's and Dave's later that evening. I only took one picture all day!

It was a good visit. Tomorrow we will attend church services in mom's building and then head toward La Junta, CO to visit Bent's Fort.
